AURORA

BREED: Husky / Healer Mix
GENDER: Female
APPROX AGE: 5 months old
SIZE: Medium
HISTORY: R-mar received a call about two hungry and shivering dogs looking for food outside the Nakota Casino on the Morley Reservation. Aurora was completely starved and extremely boney underneath the fur. She hadn't eaten in many weeks. She was more than happy to be picked up and driven away in a warm truck and given doggie cookies.

Bella 4

BELLA 4

BREED: Shepherd Mix
GENDER: Female
APPROX AGE: 5 months old
SIZE: Medium
HISTORY: Bella was only a young puppy when she was tied up in a dirt yard near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for the purpose of 'guard dog'. Her life was destined to remain on a leash, never to be let off, never to run or see or smell or get cuddles. R-mars director was on a trip to PV and heard Bella crying for over 4 hours one night outside the hotel window. Our director convinced the family a dog being tied up was no life for a dog, and paid the family to let Bella go.
TEMPERAMENT: Super playful, sweet and outgoing personality. Loves playing with other dogs, running, hiking and walks. Good with all dogs, children and cats.

Riza

RIZA

BREED: Shepherd Mix / possible Ridgeback
GENDER: Female
APPROX AGE: 2 1/2 years old
SIZE: 40 lbs Medium/Large
HISTORY: Rizzo was a stray that was rescued from the beach in Puerto Vallarta by a tourist. About a month later another tourist rescued a male dog from the Beach whom they named Ralph. When Ralph was brought to the shelter Rizzo immediately recognized him and they were overcome with happiness. It became apparent they must have been litter-mates and been together for most of their life. They are the same age, size, similar markings, but most of all is that they knew and loved each other. They either were abandoned together at the beach and became separated or a homeless dog gave birth to them. From the moment they were re-united they became inseparable. We never want them to be separated again. Looking for a home together.
TEMPERAMENT: Very sweet, friendly, calm,well-mannered, and good with other dogs.

Bambi 2

BAMBI 2

BREED: Shepherd Mix
GENDER: Female
APPROX AGE: 6 months old
SIZE: 20 lbs
HISTORY: Bambi has an unbelievably sad story. A car in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico was observed stopping on the highway and a dog was thrown out. People that saw this stopped and picked up the dog along with its health records which were thrown out with it! The records showed Bambi had come from a free spay/neuter clinic. We will never know the full story but it is obvious she was neglected and her spirit trampled on.
TEMPERAMENT: Loving, sweet, shy and a little skittish with new people but warms up quickly and is full of kisses. She needs some tender loving care and socialization and will come around fast. No doubt good with other dogs and cats. Dogs with confidence help dogs like Bambi.

Daisy 2

DAISY 2

BREED: Shepherd Mix
GENDER: Female
APPROX AGE: 3 months old
SIZE: Medium (when full grown)
HISTORY: A week after opening the shelter in Puerto Vallarta, a man appeared with an adorable little puppy and also told us of two of its siblings that were in a very bad situation. We asked him to lead us to the other puppies. He took us to a lovely little village. We had to wade across the river and then it was not so lovely, it was a very poor area and the puppies were there in indescribable filth. When we asked about the puppies a woman grabbed one by its back feet and held it up in the air and asked if that was what we were looking for. One of those puppies was Daisy 2.
TEMPERAMENT: A very sweet puppy.

King 2

KING 2

BREED: Lab / Beagle X
GENDER: Male
APPROX AGE: 2 years old
SIZE: Medium
HISTORY: King was rescued with his brother after being abandoned by their owners in their apartment.
TEMPERAMENT: King is an extremely sweet and loving boy, and wants nothing more than to be around his people. He is an active dog and will need to go to a home that can provide him with daily walks or runs. He is wonderful off leash and has great dog interaction skills. In the house he is very well mannered and calm, and once he goes outside he wants to run and play and be a dog! We recommend a home without cats as he seems to be quite interested in them.

Mia 2

MIA 2

BREED: Husky mix
GENDER: Female
APPROX AGE: 9 months old
SIZE: Medium
HISTORY: Mia was found at a Reservation dump searching for food. The only problem, she couldn't eat anything, even awful trash, since she had a plastic container stuck tightly on her head. She is gaining weight after starving for approximately two months and beginning to be less fearful of people since she was partly feral. She is now rehabilitated and ready for a home. An adopter with another young playful dog is best for Mia, since she has learned to play and loves to romp with other playful dogs.
TEMPERAMENT: Very sensitive, shy, quiet, and loves playing and cuddling with other dogs around her age and size. Recovering from post traumatic stress and making huge progress. Good with all dogs and cats. Due to her rehabilitation, would not recommend for children since they would not understand Mia's limits and need for continual socialization.

Dakota 2

DAKOTA 2

BREED: Husky / Shepherd mix
GENDER: Male
APPROX AGE: 3 years old
SIZE: Medium
HISTORY: Found on a Reserve, homeless on a freezing day eating a dead animal. He was happy to eat a real meal once he arrived at R-mar!
TEMPERAMENT: Dakota is a sensitive boy, not a scrapper. He likes to be inside with someone, since is just not learning how to play with other dogs. Enjoys the security of safety, bowl of food, a blanket, and company. He doesn't ask for much, just someone to love and train him!
