Buttons

BUTTONS

BREED: Chihuahua / Min Pin
GENDER: Female (spayed)
APPROX AGE: 6 years old
SIZE: 7 lbs
HISTORY: Buttons was saved from a high-kill shelter in LA and was transferred to R-mar from another rescue and for rehab. We do not have history on Buttons aside from her being a stray. She was found unspayed, and likely from a backyard breeder where dogs are given little to no socialization or comforts or any kind. She will need an experienced animal owner who understands and can help further rehabilitating Buttons wherever we leave off. Buttons needs an adopter that is experienced with fearfulness and fine with giving her space and not wanting a new adopted dog to be that cute, cuddly, little lap and or purse dog. A home with another balanced little dog is best.
TEMPERAMENT: Buttons is not the typical rescued dog for adoption, a work in progress. She has a tendency to try to nip strangers in the feet who come to visit. Buttons is more stubborn than the average dog and does not like to be told to do something that she does not want to do and will sometimes try to nip you if you force the issue. She does like to cuddle beside you on the couch. Her foster mom is able to clip her nails and brush her teeth. She is ok with most other dogs, but NOT good with children, better a home without cats too. She loves to go for walks and is good on the leash. She is OK with people she knows and trusts to pick her up, but will growl. Button has potential as she does crave affection like all dogs. With time and proper management she will be a great addition to the right family, an experienced small dog home. Her foster mom finds her to be quite a funny entertaining character--she does have good virtues too!
