APPROX AGE: 10 weeks old
SIZE: 2 lbs
HISTORY: Tiny Emmy was dumped in a filthy barrel, outside a dumping ground in Mexico, left to die along with her sister, Elly.
TEMPERAMENT: Emmy is as loving as a puppy can be. She is playful and fragile due to her age, breed and size.

Elly

BREED: Chihuahua
GENDER: Female
APPROX AGE: 10 weeks old
SIZE: 2 lbs
HISTORY: Due to catastrophic pet overpopulation in Mexico, Baby Elly was dumped in a tall and filthy plastic barrel outside a "dumping ground" and left to die along with her sister Emma. This is common practice in Mexico. (Please spread the word and post on facebook so others will adopt these small darling dogs.)
TEMPERAMENT: Elly is a very sweet loving little puppy, like all puppies. She is playful as well as fragile due to her young age and breed.

Wolfie

BREED: Husky mix
GENDER: Male
APPROX AGE: 5 months old
SIZE: Medium (when full grown)
HISTORY: Wolfie was born on a local reserve in the cold, in hard dirt without any comforts, and often hungry. He was socialized around other dogs and people at the house he was born, hence he is outgoing and friendly. He and Shasta are good buddies.
TEMPERAMENT: A very cuddly, loveable, friendly little soft fur ball! He is all joy and loves playing with other playful dogs. Loves attention, hugs, and CHILDREN.

Birdie

GENDER: Female
APPROX AGE: 1 year old
SIZE: 13 lbs
HISTORY: Birdie was rescued from the Tijuana, Mexican, notorious Pound where they are starved, then electrocuted to death. Birdie was highly malnourished, very dirty, pregnant, cold and scared.
TEMPERAMENT: Adorable, very friendly with everybody, loves other dogs and children. Obedient and well behaved. She will thank you a million times over if you adopt her!

Cinnamon

HISTORY: When Cinnamon first arrived at the shelter in LA she was scared and shy. With just a little bit of attention, she began to show her real personality which is fun and affectionate. Now she greets everyone with wiggly wags and kisses! Can you imagine how more she will blossom in the comfort of a home with a loving family! One look at her soft brown eyes and her precious smile will win your heart.
TEMPERAMENT: Cinnamon is outgoing and friendly. She loves all dogs and thinks that people wonderful. She will be a warm and devoted family member that fill your days with joy.

Tucker

APPROX AGE: 3 years old
SIZE: 70 lbs
HISTORY: Tucker is a dog who has been given a second chance at life. He was in an over-crowded kill shelter in Montana. One of the staff at the shelter saw the potential in him and asked a contact in Canada to help. A transport team braved the winter roads to go rescue Tucker and 15 other dogs who's 'time was up'. Tucker was found as a stray. No one at the shelter or within the transport team could believe that he had been a stray. They believe Tucker was outside abandoned and fending for himself for close to a month before the shelter staff picked him up. He has a wonderful personality, is very good with people, has good manner, a bit timid, very quiet, a true gentleman. Tucker waited at the overcrowded shelter for his 'previous people' to show but no one ever came looking for him.
TEMPERAMENT: Tucker is a mellow, easy-going fellow, just the kind of dog you've always wanted. He's been well cared-for, pretty much takes changes in stride and undoubtedly shouldn't have any problem adjusting to a new home. He just wants to be around people and loved.

Clyde

BREED: Great Pyrenees / Lab mix

APPROX AGE: 2 years old
SIZE: 91 lbs
HISTORY: Rescued homeless stray with nowhere to go and no one to love, and nothing to eat, on a very barren and lonely NWT Reservation.
TEMPERAMENT: Clyde is a very large, playful, young boy with a lot of energy and affection and loves wrestling with other young and playful dogs. He likes to play ball, run and jump up and down with glee, and even patiently waits at the water bowl when all the dogs are thirsty after a good romp. Clyde is so large, its almost like having a small white pony! Clyde is crate trained, housebroken, good with cats and other dogs and all people. He needs someone who likes outdoor activities that can take him out so he can run. Being a Great Pyranees mix, he is also a good guard dog, always letting you know if a coyote or bear is in the yard, although, he prefers to be indoors with you. Clyde is a sensitive dog, even with his large size. He truly enjoys people and other dogs to play with. This beautiful boy will definitely turn heads when walking him down the street.

APPROX AGE: 5-6 years old
SIZE: 65 lbs, and a curly tail
HISTORY: Farley is a dog who has been given a second chance at life. He was in an over-crowded kill shelter in Montana. One of the staff at the shelter saw the potential in him and asked a contact in Canada to help. A transport drive team braved the winter roads and their weekend time and gas to go rescue Farley and 15 other dogs who's 'time was up'. Roar in Montana took them in and helped coordinate transport all the way to Calgary and R-mar to the sanctuary. Farley was found running at large with his brother. He was very overweight and confused as to why he was out on the streets. His coat was extremely matted and was pulling on his skin causing him pain. The shelter believes he and his brother were abandoned.
TEMPERAMENT: Farley's a big hunk of a dog with a jovial personality. He was pretty matted with he was found so he has been shaved. he is very fluffy with lots of fur and will make a good outdoor winter companion too! Enjoys going for walks and playing fetch for excercise.

HISTORY: Found along the roadway, homeless and starving, on First Nations Reserve, Morley, hanging out with road construction crew for company.
TEMPERAMENT: Very calm, sensitive, cuddly and quiet. Loves nothing more than to be with people in a secure, happy, warm environment.

Shasta 3

BREED: Husky / Shepherd mix
GENDER: Male
APPROX AGE: 1 year old
SIZE: Medium
HISTORY: Shasta had been tied up outside on a Reserve. Even though Shasta is a husky mix, he still got very cold, was lonely from no human contact, and hungry from not getting fed regularly. He is now loving his time at R-mar Sanctuary learning how to play and run for fun. He and Wolfie are friends, Shasta watches over Wolfie for protection the first day they arrived.
TEMPERAMENT: Very affectionate, likes playing with other dogs. Sensitive and sweet with very nice manners. A very beautiful boy with gorgeous light blue eyes. He loves being near people. Everything is new to him, and he is adjusting quickly and very grateful for the security and comforts at R-mar's sanctuary.

APPROX AGE: 11 months old
SIZE: 60 lbs
HISTORY: She was found as a stray in the open fields far up Northern Alberta. No-one came looking for her at the local shelter. She had no where to go, so a volunteer up North contacted R-mar to see if we could help save her from uncertainty.
TEMPERAMENT: Roxy is an outgoing, happy-go-lucky, very playful girl with lots of energy to run yet has an easy-going nature. Roxy needs basic obedience and to be taught household ettiquette (manners). Like her breed, she loves to play ball, loves water and going for walks and runs.

HISTORY: Rescued homeless when young from nearby Reservation.
TEMPERAMENT: Nico has lots of energy so good choice with someone that is outdoorsy, hikes, camps, visits dog parks. Loves to swim and fetch like a lab puppy. Would make a great running or skijoring partner. Well socialize,d very sweet and cuddly husky. Great with dogs, cats, kids, adults.

HISTORY: When we rescued Nikki from the streets of Ensenada, she was severely malnourished with worn front teeth (a sign she was probably chewing on cans or other things to survive.
TEMPERAMENT: Nikki is a very social and loving sweet girl. She loves to ride in the car and she loves to show her affection in appreciation. Her favourite activity is riding in the car with her foster mom. What fun! She's also a cute magnet that will bring joy to a person or family looking to have a friendly pet to toot around town with.

HISTORY: Found homeless, starving and lonely on First Nations Reservation near Morley, AB. Ran right up to me for food.
TEMPERAMENT: So very sweet. Sensitive and loving. Loves being in the house next to you. Playful. Good with cats, children, all dogs. Well socialized around other dogs.
