Tara

Tara

BREED: Indigenous Iranian breed
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 2.5 Yrs old
SIZE/WEIGHT: Large 28 Kg
HISTORY: She was alone as a puppy and rescued by an older woman from the streets in Sanandaj, Iran. She was raised in her backyard but she was segregated. Half the day she was on a long chain and the other half she was free in the backyard.
TEMPERAMENT: High energy, playful, will be very affectionate once she trusts single individuals. There are boundaries with her that shouldn’t be crossed by new individuals, but unsure how much can be done by someone that she has come to trust. Good with dogs, better to place with dogs her size, cause not sure how she is with small dogs. Not good with cats. High energy level, will bark at strangers coming to the house (guard dog).
PERSONALITY: Happy-go-lucky it seems, but what has been mentioned regarding her temperament gets in the way. Once she knows you she becomes a bonded friend. Tara needs time to get to know someone, learn they are safe to be near. Tara is strong, determined, with lots of energy to run and play. She will chill out in the house after though.
HOW IS DOG WITH CATS, KIDS, OTHER ANIMALS: So far, she has been good with dogs her size. She likely has a prey drive so small dogs and cats may be a risk. We do not recommend a home with children or teens.
BEST MATCH: Tara needs an experienced large dog pet owner, someone that understand pack leadership, dog psychology, and another dog to play for Tara to play with. Tara isn’t good with all strangers, she is fearful still since had not been socialized when she was young. She’ll need ongoing socialization and basic training. Mostly rules and boundaries. An adopter who has a large acreage, wants a bit of a guard dog, no small animals though due to potential prey drive. Loves playing in snow, especially with other dogs.
FAVORITE THINGS: Running and roughhousing with medium and large dogs.
