Twinkie (ADOPTED!!)

BREED: Cairn Terrier mix
GENDER: Female
AGE: 1 year old
SIZE: Small
HISTORY: A homeless stray rescued in Tijuana Mexico by Maria one of our rescue partners who operates a rescue sanctuary
TEMPERAMENT: Super outgoing. Twinkie has a tough-little attitude! Very happy little dog. Super smart too!
PERSONALITY: Very lively, curious, full of personality and spit and vinegar! Outgoing, vivacious! Wants to check everything out. Almost a working dog! Teach Twinkie to do something and she will!
HOW IS DOG WITH SMALL DOGS: Loves them. Also likes big dogs. She likes everything, she is just a happy go lucky little cutie pie!
HOW IS DOG WITH CHILDREN: Enjoys kids, but she may be too lively for them. She has a ton of energy until she had a chance to run at dog park or hiking.
HOW IS DOG WITH CATS: At first she was chasing them for fun and working on learning its not permitted! She is now learning what cats are and not to bother them.
PETS NEEDS/BEHAVIOURAL INFO: Twinkie wants to DO things! She definitely needs to go to a dog park to run and investigate off leash. She wants to be in the midst of action. Definitely not shy! But at same time needs her confidence built in new situations. Hiking! Jogging, she’d make a great jogging partner!
BEST MATCH: An adopter that can set rules and boundaries even if she is tiny. Get Twinkie to pay attention. She needs basic obedience and better listening skills. Clicker work is needed with her to gain her attention, otherwise, she just wants to run around and check anything out and not focus. No couch potatoes! Hikers, even joggers! Time to teach basic training and to wear her out daily with physical exercise. She enjoys other small dogs, so a companion would be nice. Good secure outdoor fencing. Not high, but no holes. Best not a home with kids since Twinkie IS the kid! Need time to devote to training to pay attention. Reward based training only works with her.
FAVORITE THINGS: Running and investigating things. Stuffies, sleeping with you at bedtime. She’s a smuggler and likes to be close to people.
