HISTORY: Found stuck in huge dumpster searching for food. After getting her out and finding her full of puppy milk, we found a way. Nellie was terrified when being rescued, being handled and anyone near here. She now enjoys peoples attention and to be with people in the house when not with her puppies. She’s a happy girl now! Especially given her babies are a few months old and past the infant stage.
TEMPERAMENT: Calm, easy going, even tempered. Good with cats, dogs, puppies, kids.
PERSONALITY: Nellie is a very sweet young girl. She doesn’t ask for much. Just food and a safe place to sleep. She is so grateful for the home she now has that is safe for her and her 5 babies. She is an amazing mom. She was determined to keep them safe and slept next to them every day and night watching over them. Often letting them eat first after they were on solid food.
BEST MATCH: A calm household which would match her personality. An adopter to take her out into public, to sniff around at dog parks. Nellie had a rough life till rescued out of the filthy smelly dumpster bin and gives a lot of love in the way of gratitude. Nellie is very adorable. We hope an adopter would also like to adopt one of her puppies, or foster one during the transition. That would be best for her. Plus, it’s best to have two dogs! Dogs need doggie pals and playmates in the home. Nellie is a really smart dog. We’d like an adopter to go above and beyond with teaching her new things.
Has a sincere look when you are communicating with her. She would be good for a first time dog owner, family with children, adventurous person. She’s not a runner, she stays near the home. Her puppies are no longer nursing.
FAVORITE THINGS: FOOD! But less so obsessed now that has regular meals and no longer starving. She likes playing with playful, goofy, non threatening dogs. She loves cozy beds and safe places to sleep and spend the day. She loves new stuffies. Nellie loves lounging in the grass, so a yard would be nice.
